In a couple of hours we'll be leaving Holland to begin the first leg of our journey. Somehow leaving on September 11 feels appropriate because, as tragic as it was, this day above all others reminds me of the strength and courage of Americans, both now and in those early days of the founding of the original colonies.

We made it down to the beach in time to catch a beautiful sunset and have a cruise around town. Despite being a lake this place really did feel like a beach, with the white sand and water stretching as far as the eye could see.

... I couldn't be more proud. This may sound cheesy but I fall more in love with Reid and Bennett every day. They are hilarious, cute, darling, sometimes annoying but mostly the best babies ever!! I am feeling very grateful for them. And they are THIS close to all out laughing. I can hardly wait! That's all from us! Lots of love from our family to yours.

Joe, Butch, Jane and I finished loading up Sparkie and headed off to make the 11:00am bridge in South Haven. A little chilly but mostly gorgeous day. The ride up the channel was smooth. No boats, no traffic. Peaceful! The less than hour drive to Saugatuck ...
... there was no standing water in the park, or along side the roads. Some of the fields were damp in low areas. Guess that is what having real dirt does after storms. Wish we had that kind of drainage in Florida.
We drove down to the beach in South Haven. Lake Michigan is really very pretty.
