... have a quick look from the viewing point but, given Charlie's cuts and bruises and the impending flood warning we decide to call it a day an hour or so earlier than planned. It turns out to be a good decision as there is a huge electrical storm as we leave the park.

We travel back to HB, stopping at Walmart on the way to patch up Charlie's cut and bruises, and get him some pain killers. We eat at a local Mexican restaurant which is lovely.

... up to a fairly wide valley with lots of joshua trees in all shapes and sizes.

In this part of the park there is also an old ranch called Key Ranch that can only be access on a guided tour. Unfortunately this tour is not offered today which is a shame since it gives some fascinating insights to how people used to live in this environment.

... night until morning time. was cold and the wind picked up even higher! The temps were now mid 40s but the wind was steady at 20-25 miles per hour with gusts around 30-35 mph. We got up out of the tent and ate breakfast inside the car. After breakfast we decided to pack up our site and leave because the winds were getting worse. This wind storm was expected...nice! we are on our way to the Embassy Suites to check in early and clean up. Yay!!! Cris ...

... ourselves. He was from Canadia, and like all good and sensible Canadites, he leaves the motherland during the winter. We pitched our tent and stood chatting to John from Calgary and another guy comes over. He's from Missouri which is almost as cold as Canadiland and him and his misses have given their house to their daughter and they are now touring the states in their fifth wheel. (thats a huge camper towed behind a massive truck.) long story ...
