Our morning wake up in Joshua Tree involved some winds and sand but no where near the 50+mph winds hounding the Palm Springs area later that day….a couple we spoke with said the road visibility dropped to ten feet, they drove by looking at the road striping near the shoulder. ... while we went to Walmart in town to get some grilling food. We bought hamburgers, guacamole, salsa, chips and precooked bacon and of course cheese to top off the burgers. At around 5pm we started grilling and the smell was wonderful. We enjoyed our burgers with wine we brought from Borrego Springs which was a nice touch. As we drifted along the I8 towards Yuma, we saw a sign that said Petroglyphs. These are rock drawings made by native americans that are found all over this part of the world and can be ancient. often, these depict symbols, as well as depictions of people and animals that may have been used in rituals and ceremonies in sacred places.
