HOMEWARD BOUND
Did not hear Roddy come in but did hear the pre-dawn call to prayer. Got up c 0530 for some ablutions. The Republic [of Ireland] lost 3-1 to Croatia in the nightcap so no joy in Dublin today.
Roddy wasn't sure he'd put his pix into a book. Since he is only seeing Istanbul and Ephesus on this trip, I suggested he call it A Slice of Turkey which he liked.
Walked with Roddy to the Sultanahmet tram stop. Both agreed it was a great 72H in Istanbul ...

... home was pretty straight forward, the same as the way over with a stop in Munich. My flight from Munich to Toronto was delayed by about an hour and a half but in the big scheme it really wasn't that bad. The flights themselves were really smooth and once I landed in Toronto I didn't have any issues with customs or getting my bags! So here I am back at home, enjoying the rest of my wardrobe, most of which I'd forgotten about in the last 5 months, toilets with plumbing that ...

SO - what's on the itinerary? First stop is Munich, Germany where I'll be spending Valentine's day on an 11 hour layover between Toronto and Tbilisi. I'm already figuring out my plans for what to do in the city. I was in Munich 11 years ...
Home after 24-1/2 hours, head shaking & patience!
... gate, just on time for boarding to be starting (+2 hours after landing!!!!) Hubby went to enquire about getting his checked bag inspected; no one knew anything about this. So we lined up to get onto the plane...Showed our ID and presented our boarding passes to board...Ah but not so fast! Each passenger is now greeted by an airline representative, stopped on the gangway to the plane and interviewed once again...I was on board in no time, but hubby's carry-on luggage ...

... ich diesmal vorher noch ein bisschen recherchiert um mir Enttäuschungen wie gestern zu ersparen. Was ich mir dummerweise nicht angeschaut habe, war das Verkehrsfeature von Google Maps. Die Hoffnung, den Tag ohne Tankstelle zu überstehen, wurde daher recht schnell zerstört. Drei Stop-and-Go Phasen machten mit den halbvollen Tank meines Automatikschluckers kurzen Prozess.
