... see them too. So I got started early and headed over to San Marco Square at about 9am, stopping for a coffee there at the famous 300 year old cafe, Florian. It was the most expensive coffee of my life - 9 Euro! But that's the price you pay for a drink in the square. I headed over towards the massive basilica and already the line was hundreds stretched across the square. So I did as Dad would've and sidled up to the front, took a few photos ...

Again - what a gorgeous day!

Started the morning exactly the way we did yesterday with beautiful Italian pastries, before we set off for another wander.

We walked past Scula Grande di San Marco - which we had done the night we flew in, but I wanted to see it in the daytime as Will has a picture of it. ... court area and the equivalent to the Senate chambers. We walked across the Bridge of Sighs to the jail. The bridge was given this name from the sighs of prisoners as they took their last look at freedom on their way to serve their sentence. Back in the palace area we saw more beautiful art, armory, and gold plated ceilings, but also got to see my favorite part: gorgeous views of the water. I probably took 700 pictures just out the windows! Only in ...

... was in the movie (set-piece!).

We kept wandering along, picked up some gelato on the way, and enjoyed the views of the lagoon and St. Mark's square across the water. It felt really good to hang off the edge by the water and a couple of splashes of water from the waves were very refreshing. We also did a bit of browsing through many different glass stores and even saw a few shopkeepers working at their bench with a new piece of glass. We made our way across the grand ...
