... of Monument Valley we needed to descend several hundred metres from the plateau we were on. The most direct (and interesting) was of doing this was to drive down SR-261 on a section know as Moki Dugway. Originally created as a mining haul road in 1958, it is now maintained by the Utah DOT and accepts all traffic brave enough to have a go. Try it...we did!!
