We had a great nights sleep and breakfast and were off to see the colors in Vermont. We noticed on a calendar of events that there was going to be an Autumn Festival in Sugar Hill, Vermont which was on our way to our stop for the night. The colors are really wonderful as we were getting into more elevation. We stopped at many pullouts to take pictures. We were not disappointed on all the great colors. I think we hit being here exactly right. When we got to Sugar Hill, we ...

The current keeper talked to us about ...

We’ve all been anticipating today’s activity – a ride on a schooner out into the bay! We all went down to the waterfront to board the Olad, a beautiful sailing vessel. The captain and his mate welcomed us aboard, gave the standard safety talk, and then we were on our way! The Olad is a yacht built in 1927, and only takes a maximum of twenty-two passengers, so the cruise ...

Exploring life along the coast

... had some free time explore the rest of the museum on our own. I visited the home of a ship captain's family, learning about the people who’d lived there and the various things they brought home from their travels, and I tried my hand at catching the wind with a ship’s sail set up outside. I wound ropes and let down sails, and decided that I need a lot more practice before I try taking a real ship out on the water! I wrapped up my visit with a stop ...
