In planning my travels through South Africa I knew that I had to apply for my Indian visa along the way which would mean spending at least a week somewhere to do this. The only places with Indian embassies accepting Visa applications were Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban. ... the middle of the Serengeti during the Great Migration. We had such a great time, saw soooo much wildlife and stayed in amazing lodges in the middle of the plains. It truly was heaven and i felt incredibly spoiled. While in Tanzania, we also spent a day in Arusha, hiking around in a nature reserve and visiting an awesome school in a slum that our architect-friend built!

... flink door te rijden tot Wilderness, het begin van de Garden Route. De komende week rijden we min of meer door één groot National Park. De route leidt ons langs de onderkant van het continent, waar de beboste heuvels uitkomen op schitterende stranden. ... En die hebben we gevonden. Helemaal enthousiast toen stefan de eerste hippo spotte, en nog steeds helemaal enthousiast na de 700ste hippo. Wat een heerlijke grote logge duffe beesten. De volgende dag in Kovsie (voor de vergeetachtigen: onze auto) richting het natuurpark gereden, in de hoop meer hippo’s en nu ook kroks te zien. ... dieses zu besichtigen, gleichzeitig aber auch ziemlich schaurig und gruselig so ein Gefängnis, wenn in einem dieser langen Räume gleichzeitig bis zu 60 Personen inhaftiert waren und es wenns mal kühler wurde auch nicht wirklich eine Heizung oder sonstiges gab...

Das Schöne an Robben Island war dann aber der Ausblick, den man von dort aus auf Kapstadt und den Tafelberg hatte, wie auf der Postkarte!!
