... day is beautiful, surprising weather for London I can admit.
We have lunch with Maro and Paschalis, and then taken to the airport.
We are flying to Madrid late in the afternoon.
... John Sloane, being the slightly crazy anal retentive guy he was, made sketches of all the rooms in his house. With these sketches, the museum hopes to move all the items into their original spaces as well as opening up the top two floors. If they accomplish this, it really will be the greatest house museum in the world as it will be a museum filled with artifacts but also be presented in exactly the same way as it was in ...
London, England, United Kingdom sarahindenmark... arrived in the city, it was breathtaking.... We were in the Old Town part, and staying ini a gorgeous hostel in a 400 year old building or something to that effect. It was dark, and cold, and raining ice (apparently it had showed that afternoon, but we had missed it). We decided to stay in. The next day we went on a free 3 hour walking tour of Edinburgh and I fell head-over-heels in love. The history behind everything, so rich and deep, the buildings ...
London, England, United Kingdom french_rhubarb... me no time to contemplate the fact that I've now completed degrees in Commerce and Law. Not that I ever thought about uni with the trip coming up. Pre-Flight Mum, Bianca and I arrived at the airport around 3:15 for a 6:05 flight, where we met Dad, Mich and her mum, and Deutsch and his dad a few mins later. When we reached the check-in desk after about 45 minutes, I saw David Larish at the back of the queue, we'd agreed to all sit together so he was allowed to join us at the front ...
London, England, United Kingdom danestern... cheap for there. they had a Choir rehearsing for the Evening service and it was quiet a lovely accompaniment to lunch. After St. Paul's I went back on the big bus tour I went over the Tower of London up the Thames by the Millennium Eye and then got off at Big Ben House of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Everything is much larger than you imagine it is. I went to Westminster Abbey and sat in on the service. It is certainly not Cathedral of Faith ...
London, England, United Kingdom dabrian... The neighbourhood is very ethnic, mostly Jamaican. Once you walk down the street (Canadian Ave.!) a bit and get to the old houses and gardens, it becomes a lot quieter, although we don't seem to be far from Gatwick. The kids are happy with space to run around, trampolines and a pool. There are already roses blooming in the garden right ...
London, England, United Kingdom bprous... between the boroughs, the gigs, the nightlife, the restaurants, the theatre (apparently). All of these factors serve to make London one of the most interesting and exciting cities in the world, and I can safely say I've seen my fair share now. Carsten's first evening in the country was spent - rather predictably - in a pub. After a few pints we grabbed some fish & chips, watched an episode of Red Dwarf and passed out from exhaustion. Saturday then, and an ...
London, United Kingdom bobsonthegreat... There is a fresh food market down the street which we go to on Saturdays for our fruit, veg and free range eggs, and then there is a 10 minute walk to Chursh street, which is the trendy street with organic food shops, cafes, pubs, funky clothes shops etc and this is where Pas lives above the wine shop. So we have been in our home for 4 weeks today and it has flown by. My last bit of news is that after going for many arts jobs, I finally landed my dream job and I am now the ...
London, United Kingdom siandcath... the airport at 5. the flight was about 2 hours and i slept like an hour of it. then we spent about 2 hours toting our 50lb luggage and 20 pound backpacks all over london, taking a bus to liverpool (the BEATLES!) and then the tube, changing lines twice and having to lift our luggage up flights of stairs.. lol. it was extremely tiring, on toip of the fact that we have been go, go, go the past 9 days with literally almost no time to rest. it's been nice, but i am really ...
London, United Kingdom melinda4419... to be rich and interesting, and small enough to be very human. Moments: - Well of course there's the Auschwitz/Birkenau tour. This was, rightly, the quietest tour I have ever been on. What can you possible say or add? How could you make small talk? We have all seen almost all of it in still and moving pictures. Being there was not necessarily worse than that, but it is very real and immediate, shocking and sad. Our tour guide was a young Polish woman ...
