... boys were welcomed over the public address and had a parade with other youth teams on the field at half time.

After the match the boys played some touch on the field. We then headed off to our hotel in Montecini. A very nice town with narrow streets and typical Tuscan architecture.

The boys had some free time after supper to walk around the town and explore.

... a week where all the marble was stolen and reused in other sites. Beautiful marble work!! Almost blinding for pictures.

Had a lovely lunch on a side street from the Field of Miracles.

Kids got to "shop" a bit at the market.

On the way back to the Villa we stopped in Empoli at the "Super Coop", a very big grocery store, to pick up a few things. I found "Made in Manitoba bread flour" and "Canadian Maple Syrup".

A rest day turned into a catch up day. Kids got to sleep in and relax in the morning and then catch up on some journaling. Rome was crazy busy and they needed time to take in what they had learned in Rome before we start the next leg of our journey in Tuscany.

Lots of naps today for David and I.

David took the kids out for a short drive around the countryside. They found a castle. They ended up in Empoli, the bigger centre in our area.

Left Florence at 8am, and went via Pisa to see the tower. Had about an hour to take photos, which I did, but no silly ones! There were people everywhere trying to hold the tower up. I tried to get in a few of there's to push it down! The area itself wasn't what I had expected. I had expected just an area, like a roundabout with the tower in the middle, but instead there were two other cathedral buildings there, a huge green grass area and fortress like walls around it.
