Riad Chamali Marrakech

... After a stressful spell though the buzz of Marrakech makes me appreciate all we have experienced and everything us Westerners have even more. Morocco is more amazing than i remembered with its incredible colours, culture and continuous backdrop of distant mountain ranges.

Reality beckons as we are back by Chrimbo but for now we are losing ourselves in all sorts of surreal and out-standing cinema in the sunny but still cold capital...

... and left to have your own adventure. Side trips can be taken but they aren’t always organized by the driver. The road conditions vary from paved, dirt, mud, and everything in the middle. Sometimes you wonder how it is physically possible to make it through the narrow passengers that our driver navigates or the streets full of people and parked cars. It puts Austin Powers to shame. But there is really no other way to see Africa, at least for me.

Met a fine fellow from Wales as a hopped off the bus in Marrakech (from Essouria). He was looking for an economical riad to stay and I knew just the place - the riad I'd dumped my rugs at just days prior.

After settling in, I invited him to tag along w/ me to grab a geocache at Menara Gardens. LOL ...

He continued his hysteria and refused to accept our money. The women and children had gone to the ship, so it was me, Terry, and Mohammed trying to resolve the dispute. ... of these exotic innards, just little tastes to be able to say I've sampled them, but no - they were nowhere to be found. Marrakech is at its best a place to take in the exotic Oriental atmosphere of winding streets and souks selling an astonishing array of beautiful handicrafts ranging from carpets to marquetry boxes, from brassware to jewelry, from ceramics to spices, and from leather to ironware. ... as the shadows lengthen the activity heats up, the night markets' food stalls start getting wheeled in/constructed. Small crowds gather around groups of acrobats, musicians, storytellers and thespians. As darkness approaches the crowds grow, the food stalls billow tantilising smoke, the steamed snail merchants start beckoning and it all happens.
