Although it took 11 hours to get from DC to Randolph, it was A LOT better than flying since we would still be waiting for our flight today I bet. We scooted out of DC just as THE BIGGEST STORM EVER was coming in. Didn't really see much snow at all on the way up but Amtrack did cancel all northbound trains the next day.
So you know how the train goes - sway sway, choo choo, read, sleep, eat, stand up and stretch - repeat. But it was a bit surprising ...

Named after a small city in southern France, Montpelier is one of smallest state capital cities in one of smallest states. The Vermont State House is also one of the smallest state capitol buildings I've visited across the country, fitting for Vermont where virtually everything is miniature – the towns are small, the farms are small, and even the mountains are rather small, ...

Stowe & Waterbury - High in the Green Mountains

I took the back way instead of the interstate from Burlington to Stowe and Waterbury. Route 108 crosses a flank of Mount Mansfield, highest peak in Vermont at 4,393 feet, past Smugglers Notch and Stowe ski areas. Mansfield is not particularly high and from what I understand not that difficult a hike/climb, but with it turning out to be one of hottest days of year I was not in mood for strenuous activity. It's a state high point peak ...
