... decending 6,000+ feet we drove through a prarie like setting and encountered tumbleweeds blowing over the road. At 2:15PM PST we crossed into Oregon with 4,100 miles logged on the trip. Then it was on to Ashland where Shakespeare reigns in the summertime. A very artisy town where Maureen bought four quilt potholders.

So far so good, although my wallet did fall out of my pocket as my bag was going through the X-ray machine, (money still there!) and sunglasses magically fell out of my bag sitting here. Luckily nice people quickly it pointed out. Wow, I'm tired!!!! And I still have about 36 hours till Chch ...

... two of the upscale restaurants -- Peerless, which, for the price, didn't meet our expectations. It wasn't a bad dinner, it was just too expensive for what we got.
The Winchester Inn, though, was really top notch. Good food, good service, very nice setting. And if you are going to one of the plays it's only a 5 minute walk from the venues.

... br> When we were done our tour and stepped outside, it felt really warm! We then walked down to the visitors center and got our Junior Ranger badge. We then drove back down the steep road, and drove to a Walmart so we could stock up. After we shopped, we went to the airport to pick up my mom who was flying in from Philadelphia for 2 weeks.
