Whoever wrote the sign at the entry to Franconia was a master of understatement. The sign warns 'a trip through the flume involves uphill walking and stairs. If I weren't so out-of-breath, hopefully from my cold, I might have counted the stairs. Just kidding. But my iPhone says I only climbed three flights of stairs, but I climbed 7 the day we visited Portland’s signal tower. I think my iPhone is broken.

Also, make sure to learn even a little French if you want to interact with the locals, and because French is spoken basically throughout Quebec, that little piece of tape and row of potted flowers won’t save you (even though English is spoken as well, it’s always fun to try to fit ...

Another day of skiing!

A travel blog entry by matt-hryniewicz on Mar 01, 2015

Went skiing with the Reidy's and their cousins. Jay Peak is definitely a must on a skiers list. Some sweet glade skiing for novices. Packed powder. 25 degrees. Barely a breeze. A couple of quads and a tram bought you to the top. Sitting on the Canadian border in northern Vermont, it's quite remote making for small lift lines. It was a four hour ride but the ride back was a bit more interesting with the impending ...
