... Train was better than expected—cushioned seats for everyone, fare was about 18 cents US. Nobody smoked. Much less uncomfortable than their best bus.

So far, SL feels like a training exercise for future travel to India. Food is good, cheap, and they give you too much. Bargaining is harsh,people’s native languages are Sinhalese (south) and Tamil (north), so pretty much everybody speaks English.
