"These glaciers are mint"
... weather had got even worse, and we were getting ******* soaked. But this didn't bother us when 1 hour later we had reached the end and were in touching distance of the glaciers.
There was a group of women there with some champange and were laughing a lot ( i assumed they were drunk), but in fact the sign that says you can not go any further was a bloke with his hand out and wearing a park rangers uniform, this was indeed the son of one of these women....and the bloke wasn't even ...
Kiwi Experience
... climbed up - savage! That night we played a game of Killer Pool and we lost pretty soon !
We were picked up the next day to go to 'Rotorua' where we did Luging - basically go karting without breaks - it was so fun - but nobody told me i had to go on a chair lift to get back up!!!!
So not much so far but it feels like ive been here a lifetime. Next Big Thing - i am preparing for the SKYDIVE on ...
Up up and almost away in Franz Josef
... of glacier. Traveler tip – if the sun is shining get in the helicopter cos it wont be shining in the morning. We did a 90 min walk to Franz Josef Glacier and then a similar length walk to Fox Glacier (just down the road). Now you have to know I love New Zealand and yes, I definitely want to live here but NZ doesn't do glaciers like Argentina. So although it was fun, we were a bit underwhelmed-sorry L. Glaciers, more Ice Cream + lots of Sandfly bites
... acting as a dam. Eventually it gave way with a similar effect of a Tsunami, hence why they say to stick to the paths and look for the latest safety information before setting off.
So that was pretty awesome and certainly an experience we won't forget in a hurry. It gives you a new found respect for the original explorers.

Wellington
Busy day yesterday so we decided not to move to far today.
Travelled as far as Ohakune where we stopped over at Dept of Conservation camp at Mangawhero.
It's in from Ohakune towards the Ski fields. A bit remote but nice and quiet, minimal facilities.
Next day headed for Wellington to catch the InterIslander to Picton early on the morning of the 21st.
We stayed at Evans Bay at the Boating Club car park, (NZMCA park over)
