but generally on the motorway or people in the service counters, are
not the happiest of people so we don't get much of a smile from them.
Actually, the motorway is just plain crazy! But when we stop and talk
to people, they are nice :) I didn't want people to think I think all
... comes to accommodation and dining. With that in mind we did a little research and decided to stay in much cheaper but still very pretty Sacramento, where we could easily access other cities and destinations while spending a lot less on rent and food.
From there we were able to visit and enjoy many cities and areas, some of which are world famous, like Napa Valley. We also enjoyed driving to Lake Tahoe (beware of the many speed cameras on ...
... too and picked up some goodies. Another stop was WalMart. Stan needed to buy some caulk. But he forgot to pay for it. He just put it in his cart and walked out of the store, cart & caulk. (Need I say it? Old people forget.)
In our short travel time and errand running, we got a pretty good look at Fresno, CA. All I can say is "Toto, I don't think we're in The Villages anymore"! There were 3 left turn lanes ...

One prisoner talked about the time he was sent to stay in there and how he used to play with a stone, throwing it in the air and then searching for it over and over again to keep him sane. The gardens around the prison were beautiful. At one point they were being tended to by some of the inmates who were given the job as a privilege for good behaviour as it allowed them to be out of their cells and in ...
... fries. Back to the B&B to await hopefully news that the parks were going to reopen...
...but it was not to be. I don't want to sound like a downer, but there is not much else to do in the area. We could have driven the hour or so back to Fresno, but that didn't interest us. We drove to the entrance of the park...and then attempted to drive to a hiking area our host told us about...not part of the park, but he failed to tell ...
