Dolphin swim

4 of us doing the Dolphin Swim, woke up at the ungodly hour of 4:30 in the morning, to catch our taxi ride at 5:30. I hoped that this Dolphin ride was going to be worth it. It was raining, it was dark and it was cold! And this was outside the water. I took my sea sickness tablets, since I was sure the ride wasn't going to be smooth. And I was right. We got the centre, got into our gear which were 3 ml wet suits top and bottom, hood and gloves. The more we stayed on the boat the less pretty th...

Land of the long white cloud

... domain and public reserve. I spent hours in the place and would highly recommend it to all visitors to Auckland. Another wonderful piece of history is the Howick Historical Village. The site holds a collection of original houses built by the fencibles between 1840 and 1880. It tells the story of these British settlers who were all ex forces personnel, sent to protect the new colony from any advancing attacks. As it was they did not see ...

... eggs?" breakfast in New Zealand is a light affair, and mostly you get a flat white, or a cappuccino, and toast, or fruit, or muesli. we learn things every day of life, I just didn't know that I would order the same breakfast I always get, in an English speaking country, and have to figure out what to say. I love it. I love being lost. I love not knowing what to do. I love wishing everything was easier.

auckland: the land of trendy japanese and cafes

... walking the streets of auckland drunken with accomplishment (and jet lag) we have had an endless array of hiking and sightseeing that would be impossible to explain. it has already been the most amazing experience of my life and to try and put it into words would only end up in endless cliches. maybe it's best to leave the words encapsulated in my mind for times when i become resentful.

lots more to come!

Auckland Day 24 and 25

... Up there I met a brother and sister from New Zealand, who offered to show me around. I happily obliged, we walked down Queens street and took the ferry to Devonport, where we climbed Mt Victoria (Victoria Summit). The views of Auckland were impressive, the highlight being when the sun was setting, although it was cloudy the sun rays burst through them, giving a holy light over the land!! After saying our goodbyes I headed back to the hostel. I met Vim in the kitchen, where ...

... Godmother's house, they range from Bob, through a bearded dragon, cats, dogs and even a few humans. In all seriousness I was given a very warm welcome by my Godmother Liz and her family. I was even given my own room, with drawers included, which is quite a novelty when you've been traveling for a while. Being able to actually leave my toothbrush in the ...

Auckland Again

... some looking over and a test drive, they agreed to take it! We rushed off and got the ownership paperwork sorted and then we were free. We had sold it for about half of what we paid, but it was gone and we could relax before our flight the following morning. We bought some (reasonably priced) fizzy wine to celebrate and collapsed as the stress of the past week slowly ebbed away. The next day we flew to Santiago, for an 8 day rest before we started our tour across South America....
