... br> On alternate mornings, when diving is not on the books, we head out to the mangrove ponds south of town by the huge mega resorts that are springing up along the coast. We wave as we pass the hotel security guards....they must think that by virtue of our skin color we must be guests at the resort, and we pass by unimpeded. ... place nearby. I was about to get my gear when Sheldon from downstairs asked me if I was interested in joining him for a jaunt to the reef. Absolutely. Good music, good food & the company of good people. Who could ask for more?

Uzies & drug sniffing dogs

A travel blog entry by kimbabe

... big time all the way. Water spraying in the entrance, windows leaking, the big guy up front with the huge 'fro' bouncing ridiculously. Lots of laughter on the way. Next stop: Chetumal water taxi dock. This means a Mexican border with guards carrying uzis and a drug sniffing dog. Drop all carry on bags including purses etc. and line up behind the yellow line. Dog sniffing, sniffing, sniffing my bag and I have trouble not laughing because I know he ...
