    ... parts of the Victoria Day parade. This was our first view of
    a North American type parade.
    Numerous marching bands participate and all bring their particular style of music and choreography. Together with local businesses and community groups they form a two hour parade full of music, colour, community and business promotion. The crowds cheered and clapped and encouraged the participants. It was very much like you we see in the movies.

    ... dipped his artificial leg to begin his run across Canada. His goal was to dip his leg in mile 0 of Victoria, BC - completing his Marathon of Hope. Unfortunately, he died along the way and was never able to complete the full run. I think it is nice that Victoria put a statue up in this city even though he never dipped his leg in these waters.
