... up, so instead of a fun drive through the mountains it was an agonizing crawl behind motor homes and dump trucks. I think there were at least five construction sites where we had to stop and wait for a lead car to guide us through. Then I made a wrong turn, which cost me another ten minutes. ... one town ends and the next begins. To me, its not about wine. Its about vibe. The vibe will eventually change as the money, which is moving in quickly and steadily, begins to force the hippies out. As rents rise, the locals are displaced and soon, the metaphorical tofu will be much less plentiful. Thats a sad thought indeed.

So when you travel thru NorCal's beautiful wine country, please be sure to take in the hippie vibe as well. Its a lovely place and your soul ...

... gas station to ask directions. No one had any idea where the street in question was. There was a very nice man getting gas who eventually found us a city map in his car. Well, wouldn't you know it, the stupid street was ONE BLOCK away! In fact, I can see the Shell sign if I look out the window of the motorhome now! Fortunately for us they had one spot left. We got set up and went out for Chinese food - the chicken hadn't thawed and we were both too frazzled and worn out ...

... mind but an experience none the less....

The day then took us to sushi, a trip to att to get a sim card which turned into a bit of a business venture and then jaspers. i have to sadly admit that I felt like a stranger at Jaspers for a bit. I dont really know anyone anymore but we nicely saw some great old friends and it turned into a nice evening. Off to the river tomorrow! Good night and best wishes to everyone!

Next day, we started our wine walk that we had read about in Budget Travel (thanks Ronn). We did it mostly in reverse of the map but got to 3 wineries and I think around 5 miles. Ravenwood, Buena Vista and Sabastiani-all good wine and ...
