Em Lisboa
... a cidade não está "aberta para o mar" e sim um pouco mais para dentro, garantindo maior segurança a ataques por navios. Principalmente em colônias esse fato era bastante seguido, garantindo a facilidade de trocas com Portugal por estar tão perto do mar e ainda assim, a segurança contra possíveis invasões estrangeiras.
