Acapulco during the early 2000's was a haven for sun-seeking, bar hopping tourists until war between drug cartels normally concentrated within the suburbs of Acapulco spilled toward the beachfront. None more publicized than the 2008 killing of 2 Canadian tourists by stray bullets in front of their hotel lobby.
