    A day in Estes

... will be an early night again with the alarm scheduled to wake us at 5. I am a little nervous\anxious for the marathon which is normal for me the night before it is a huge under taking and I know what is ahead of me. I am hopeful that I will get some rest tonight. Les seems relatively at east with his pending 21Km run through the hills of Estes I am sure we will both be happy once we cross the finish line.

We made it to Estes Park, Colorado in time for the annual parade. Armed with coffees and cinnamon buns we watched the many Rodeo Queens wave graciously to the onlookers. It was like any other small town Alberta parade, which was a nice feeling.

... through a gorge, and winded through beautiful southwest scenery, much of which has been used as backdrops for films and TV commercials. To get a better idea of how the scenery was used in film, we stopped at the Film Museum located in the Red Cliffs Lodge (a gorgeous place!). The museum was small, but cool, and interesting. We continued along the road, stopping for a photo shoot with the famous Fisher Towers behind us and the ...

... town is famous for Pearl St mall, a pedestrianised couple of blocks of really good shops, where there are plenty of places to sit and people watch, especially all the street entertainers. We went into an excellent independent book store and bought a couple of books, including another one on the canyons of the Colorado Plateau. We had an ice cream, and just mooched along. We braved the rush hour traffic to find Whole Foods, although tiredness then meant tempers got a little ...
