    ... deluge yesterday, I deferred to his better judgement. I'm so glad I did. By the time we made it to the original Smithsonian building, the sun had come out from behind the cloud, the breeze had vanished, and we were (needless to say) quite warm.     Today after our very brief overnight stopover in Philadelphia we journeyed to Washington DC on the way we stopped of at Baltimore for a long lunch stop.     ... and enjoyed the chance to relax on the coach. After the three hour journey back to Baltimore we got the 35 back to campus which for once was on time.     ... take a decent car nap. He finally "came to" and was able to rest a bit, even though he was understandably cranky.

    Meanwhile, we survived getting to and through the Beltway, DC 295 and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, albeit at a snail's pace. I am now an expert in changing lanes in bumper-to-bumper traffic -- and I add a wave and a smile when I zip into a new lane. Gotta be polite when cutting people off.

    Our final full day in the US started about 8:30, a little bit of a sleep in. We didn't have too much planned for the day, we only had to complete our last minute shopping and then get back to pack our luggage in preparation for tomorrow's flight.
