Stefan and I flew into Palermo late last night. We are staying in a nice enough hostel and we toured down town all day today. We hope to get a late lunch then tomorrow we will leave for the south east of Sicily.

Traveling through the Rome airport we met up with 1996-99 Seahawk Brian, he's now in Atlanta. Yesterday we landed in sunny Palermo with the temperature 72 degrees. What a joy after the humidity and 95 degrees which covered me from head to toe with itchy "baby rash". We were pleasantly surprised by our B&B / hostel for the night (www.aivicere.com). Well equipped, clean and pretty much in centre of the old town.

We woke up after a brilliant nights sleep and again the sun was shining. Feeling good we all got dressed for some exercise. I ran along another brilliant coastal road, today was the hottest yet. Sweating and flustered I boldly suggested we go straight for a swim. Well I was the bravest and got in up to my thighs, the boys managed their toes and that was it - it was more like an ice bath. But stunning crystal clear water.

... and calm evening…Time to start a fire.

We collect some kindling from outside. We pull out a couple of logs of firewood from a small stack that was in the basement. With very little effort, the fire starts quickly…the smoke billows into the night air. We are naturals at this!

The fire place is even more amazing than I had imagined. The heat it gives off is perfect, filling the room with the warmth and scent giving the house a romantic ...
