Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...

New Years Eve was a lovely day, travelling down the coast, with the aim of arriving in Boston early evening. We visited Kennebunkport and a neighbouring village, both very cute little seaside towns, lots of money evident there. Kennebunkport is where Clinton has a house, so you can imagine!

This morning our intention was to check out Portland. We wandered down to the 'old town' which wasn't really an old town but VERY like Port Adelaide! It was cold - about minus 7 - so we were going into many shops just to warm up! When I saw a cheese shop that had samples it was like a dream!! The cheese was all made in Vermont and was delicious. We got talking to the lady about how we'd been hoping to see snow . She suggested if we drive inland about ...

We woke up this morning in our hotel room that housed the shower in a cupboard. Before our tour of the House of 7 Gables in Salem we wandered back to Marblehead to take photos of the cute little coloured houses and the beautiful mansions. Such a great little place. We then ventured back to Salem. Salem You know that feeling when you start a tour, and know from the very first second it's going to be the longest 45 minutes of your life, but there's no escape? ...

... and looking as scary as one of his books.

One the way we introduced Brian and Denise to a dairy queen which they enjoyed. As usual the portions were probably twice the size you get in the UK.

After having breakfast the next day Denise and Becci went into the town whilst me, Andrew and Brian went for a walk in Camden State Park. It was nice for a change not have to keep an eye out
    for Bears.
