... but eventually went to see Bruce Willis in 'Surrogates', a weird but quite cool sci-fi which is worth a look if you have no better offers.
Came out of the film around 11, considered going for a drink but decided that there would be plenty of time for that, and without paying through the nose either. Read for a bit and turned out the light. Found myself restless, not surprising really but a better nights sleep would have been handy; ho-hum.
... as we were now going to the Freeman Hospital, my home. After riding over the Yorkshire moors & Teeside we came through the Tyne Tunnel & arrived at the Freeman. Well I say we, myself, martyn, David & Lyndsey nearly got lost! we managed to lose the others on the run into Newcastle but we got there in the end.
Wow! there were Nurses, photographers, paparazzi ...
Day 2 and I need to fix the LR!
My first night in a hostel and first experience of having to share a room with 3 other strangers. There was one man that kept waking me up with his snoring, lets hope I got some revenge throughout the night;-) It's 8am and time for breakfast. Most of the Hostel are here for the Great
North Run so when I turn up for breakfast it is packed and everyone is excited about their days events.

Well this is day one.
Left Haverhill at 10am this morning and was in Newcastle at the Angel of the North by 15:00. Not bad going for an old thing (the car not me!!!) lol. Stopped at the Angel of the North and took a few pictures, just need some wi-fi so that I can upload a few. Then off to my first stop over, Newcastle YHA. Checked in, handed over £20 and and went up to my room with a packet ...

3) Learn some more Hindi. Especially the phrase "Get your hands off my ass you dirty old man."
4) Swap the alcohol habit for a much more peaceful philosophical weed habit. Write some 'interesting' poems for my portfolio as a result.
5) Always carry toilet paper to avoid the 'Indian' method....
6) Try to look fit despite having a shiny bald heid. Result of a brothers bet. More on that next time.
... dinner was scheduled for 7pm. Our room sucked, we had a double bed and when we went down to sort it out, we were told that the fold our couch was the 2nd bed...oh great. What ****. Our tour director didn't seem at all interested in helping sort out the bed, so we decided just to try the double bed. So when the hotel people came to make up the bed at 6.50pm we told them to forget it. To be honest we paid for 2 beds, twin ones..and later we ...
Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom jasndan... In its stark beauty it makes this old Protestant feel quite at home but, this ain’t our church. It was built to the honor of St. Cuthbert, a very early saint from Landisfarne who died in 687 C.E. and was buried twice, first in the Anglo-Saxon church at this site and then in this new Church. (The problem with being a saint is they won’t leave you alone.) It is even more solid and beautiful than I remember. You really ought to check it out if you come up this way.
Durham, England, United Kingdom auldsod... remember 3, and none were significant or long…..
What’s better than facing unending hills in a head wind? Doing it in the rain, of course! This was not the drizzle we’ve grown to love, nor the short bursts that we encountered in Scotland. It was a rain that grew more steady as time went on. For awhile, I forgot what I was doing. I wasn’t sure if I was cycling, or swimming. Streams of water poured down by ...
... used by the current batch of royals. In fact, I made a point of asking one of the guides at Holyroodhouse if the Queen had ever sat in any of the chairs in this particular room. The guide assured me that the Queen had held a formal reception in that room just a few months earlier. And those guests did use the old furniture. So, for me, the fact that these people use historical items in part of their everyday lives gives me the impression that they are trapped in the past. I ...
