The ferry was much like any other ferry, quite full for the one hour forty minute trip. Initially things went well, pleasant views and quite comfortable, we enjoyed a toasted sandwich and coffee and read. There were two howler monkeys, one having a ...

... There were tables and benches on the beach where they brought our food, an amazing green Thai fish curry, crab spring rolls and spicy chicken noodle dish. All lovely with a setting sun to top it off. To end the day we walked along the promenade to a hotel where we had a glass of red wine outside looking at the full moon.on the water. A good start to our stay in Jersey.

I first visited Vale do Lobo 23 years ago and have returned every year, bar one. 14 years ago we spent an indulgent couple of months there, between jobs, during which time we investigated the possibility of making Vale do Lobo our full time base and running a business from there. Although we didn’t follow it through then, I have never given up on the hope of retiring there. In 1995 I was asked to write an article on Vale do Lobo for a magazine. So, 14 years on, are ...
