    Alrighty, so we were well on our way and decided that we needed to stop and get gas...or at least get out and stretch our legs for a bit, and get a bathroom break in.

    ... ball of string' we could make a side trip and see it.

    The first neat thing we encountered was a rest area on Route 80. They had commissioned an architect to celebrate Iowa’s literacy. Throughout the area they had representative kid’s blocks with letters (2 foot cubes of concrete) they had what appeared to be book spines formed into the plaster borders of the building. There was a plaque explaining the representation.

    11pm in the middle of Iowa. This town has a population of about's about one block long...people are friendly...houses are cheap...quiet..,Danish heritage....storefronts empty...lots of fireflies.
