... to the beach for too long so got a bus to Farol da Barra at the other end of town (less crowded than Ipanema in Rio) and relaxed there all day.

Our casual night out in Salvador also convinced us that Rio was a better place to spend Carnival for us because Salvador would have gobbled us up. Also, axé, the music from Bahia, is not good!

... laden with booze, and perhaps other substances, they commenced a noisy rendition of a pagode (local type of pop song) she says ooh, he says ahh, ooh, ahh, ooh, ahh.... I'm sure you know that song.

Bira and I started laughing. Trying to keep quiet. It was like they were in the bed next to us.... singing this lovely song....

... and the 'terrace' has holes all through it above a large pit, with the tiles scattered here there and everywhere.

Personally I loved the apartment where the spiral stairway was so small you had to crouch through a cupboard, lion witch and wardrobe style, to get into it, then at the top of the stairs Ann Marie got electricuted when she tried to turn on the light.

Third favourite was the apartment down a street well known for mugging estrangeiras, and the donno do casa, ...

... we decided to check out one of the different Carnaval circuits. This circuit was supposed to be were all the locals went to party, unfortunately this was completely opposite to almost any other situation we have come across in CA or SA. Usually where the locals party is where the most festivity atmosphere is.
