    ... served in a different way. Pasta with broccoli rob, white beans with pasta soup, and spaghetti with sardines and red pepper for flavor (part of a group lunch). S walked old town, church, fort, huge white rock, and trabucco for fishing. Great vistas and photos. J pizza, S tuna, both GELATO

    ... coast road back to Vieste. The coastline is dotted with trabucci, ancient fishing traps. They are made from wood and rope and look like giant platforms with planks of wood jutting out over the sea.

    Back in Vieste, we headed out for the evening for a delicious meal of grey mullet, stuffed mussels and breaded anchovies. The restaurant was built into the side of a rock so it was like eating in a cave - very atmospheric.

    ... still unknown to American travelers. At our cliff-side hotel, we had dinner tonight, and slept in Vieste, Puglia.
    Group dinner - Pea soup, cod, pasta w/shrimp, cake. Ate dinner with Tram who worked on Air Force One. Both her and Rocky (104 trips to China) work for Boeing.

    ... these days (if I work hard at listening). After mass we walked down to the center of town--it is downhill . . . which means it’ll be uphill upon our return AND it’s 1.5 to 2 miles each way. It got considerably cooler as the day went on and I swear that I saw a snowflake or two in the midst of sprinkles. We found a trattoria from Tripadvisor and had a delicious, local and simple meal.
