The path, as ever, was not labelled or clear, but eventually made it to Praia do Luz, the next bay south - wished I'd hitched a ride with one of the 4WD's careering along the beach to the bar (sand only!), but ...

... that it was the land of the Gauchos (Cowboys). But hey, I would get some time at the beach so I am open to compromises!
We basically just loaded up the car and left without a definite goal of where to arrive that night. Since the driving went well and we had a two lane highway for 3/4th of the way, we made it all the way to Laguna in Santa Catarina, about 400 some kilometers. After some searching in town we found a hotel with a nice bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and ...

Well we have lost the sun and gained some wind, about 30kts on the nose. Nearly third way to Salvador now, bashing our way up the east coast of Brazil. Need to catch some more tuna before we have to turn vegetarian
