Of course I knew that it would be cold there (since I had been there only 7 weeks prior) so I had my thermals on stand-by and slipped them on without any problems :) At one stage the altitude on Keith's watch read 4200m above sea level! Inside the church, the walls were lined with small rooms where you would expect statues or something, but most were empty, with only two pieces of rebar sticking uot of the ground, like empty sockets. Planning for the future? Worth mentioning that the next neighbor to the cathedral was a scetchy parking garage, seemingly not half way built, with whole bunches of rebar streching for the sky.

We hebben nog een klein weekje tussen Baños en Quito. Zullen we rechtsom gaan door de jungle of linksom over de avenida de los Volcanes? We houden meer van de bergen, genoeg jungle gezien in Azië en we vinden het wel leuk om zover mogelijk over de Andes te reizen, aangezien we in Patagonië bij het begin van de Andes zijn gestart. De ochtend van ons vertrek uit Baños zitten we na het ontbijt ...
