... people here, compared to mainly blacks in the poorer looking part. America still has a lot to do there it seems. Natchitoches is the oldest settlement in all of Louisiana, and was celebrating it's 300th year. I guess places in Louisiana just aren't very old.

... because someone thought 5:30 a.m. was a good time to fly out. But instead of sleeping I will lay their with my thoughts running 90 miles an hour - is everything packed, did I get everything done at work that I should have, am I crazy for going away for two whole weeks? Can only hope that by the time the plane lands in Honolulu, I will be able to relax, leave all my worries behind and enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer.

... a pet deer named backstrip. Yes, it was an actual deer and Blake as I pet it. Then as we were talking to these people the local county sheriff pulled up in his car ( which apparently he did every day). This sheriff was about 65 or 70 years old, had a six shooter revolver and also quite a big amount of chewing tobacco. After a light shower overnight (we stayed dry), today was absolutely perfect. We relaxed all day, doing our own little things. Sherry read her book on a float in the water, Debby laid on her lawn chair in the sun, and I went for a long walk exploring the campground. We had grilled pork chops (not squirrel) for dinner, with wild rice, and French cut green beans with sautéed onions and mushrooms.
