... people here, compared to mainly blacks in the poorer looking part. America still has a lot to do there it seems. Natchitoches is the oldest settlement in all of Louisiana, and was celebrating it's 300th year. I guess places in Louisiana just aren't very old.

One week from today I will walk out of the office, start running around like crazy because I just remembered things I still need to get done and then start packing. Saturday I'll check and recheck my list of things I want to make sure I take....camera, phone charger, tablet, plenty of underwear, sunscreen, sunglasses.....then feel horrible because it will be time to drop Cartman off for boarding. ... three hour drive into New Orleans so we should be there by noon. Our campsite is very nice. Has water and electrical outlets right next to the picnic table and even has a shower in the bathroom. I'm a little confused about how Louisiana handles the finances of their parks because we had to drive on a dirt road to get to the park but when we got here the bathrooms were air conditioned. I'm not complaining though because with the humidity I will take any air conditioning I can ...

After a light shower overnight (we stayed dry), today was absolutely perfect. We relaxed all day, doing our own little things. Sherry read her book on a float in the water, Debby laid on her lawn chair in the sun, and I went for a long walk exploring the campground. We had grilled pork chops (not squirrel) for dinner, with wild rice, and French cut green beans with sautéed onions and mushrooms.
