Today after a leisurely morning, we drove to Folkston - one of the entrances to Okefenokee swamp. It was a bit of a challenge getting there since the directions weren't clear and the gps didn't recognize the address. Drove to Jekyl Island first today. Arrived around 1:30. Drove to the far side of the island to a picnic area and had lunch. We enjoyed a walk along the driftwood beach and took pictures of some of the interesting driftwood specimens. We were on the road again by 3:00 - heading to Waycross, Georgia. ... look at the Heritage Farm, they have a blacksmith shop, tobacco barn and other buildings and some farm animals.

Tomorrow we move on to Crawfordville for 3 days and plan to be home on Monday. Our trip is really winding down and we are looking forward getting home.

... to bloom. This wildlife refuge has an extensive series of "trails" that are all on the water. Canoe, kayak or motor boat. Definitely NO SWIMMING!
The water is really black and kind of eerie. Would not want to be in this swamp at night. Enjoy the photos. ...

... and the phone, so you'll have to take my word for what we saw. The goat kids were our favorites. The ate grass and hay out of our hands and one little one was interested in eating the strap from my sandal. Goats will eat about anything. There were several scruffy sheep, but no lambs yet.


The chickens were great! Lots of showy roosters and crowing was the song of the day. Lots of them had deformed combs. I'm wondering what causes it. ...
