Nice area
Now in Whitainga, which is a small resort town directly on the Pacific coast. Lots of beach here, mainly deserted now. Weather generally cool some sun. B&B is quite nice. Bedroom a bit small, but guest lounge is great. Lots of room, nice couches, large plasma TV with DVD player even. Also free WiFi, which is very useful for looking up options …

Day 27 & 28 Coromandel
We spent most of today travelling from Kerikeri past Auckland to Coromandel town. The drive went very quickly indeed and 7 hours seemed to fly by. We stopped for lunch in a town called Thames, supposedly the eco warrier veggie friendly but at 3:30pm (late lunch I know!) everything closes. Chilled out town to the max! The top was completely open thanks to the ravages of time and the sea, and the sides and top were covered with lovely lush ferns and other vegetation, giving it a really tropical feel. We got as far as Hot Water Beach before turning back, and stopping in one or two more bays and caves. Got back to the wharf at around 12h30.
