Left Christchurch this morning on the bus headed for Methven and some snowboarding. The bus broke down just outside Christchurch, which set us about 1 hour late. I was supposed to switch buses in Ashburton but because I got there so late I figured I was out of luck. I wandered down to the connecting bus stop (which was waaaaaay down the road since …
... off to have a look around at all the little craft and knick knack shops, and I kicked the ball with Mitchell on the soccer fields for a bit (whew). The three of us then walked around the township for a bit trying to find Lynette, and came across a little fudge shop. had to sample and then buy some of course.
Eventually found Lynette and we walked around some more, found a nice little coffee shop, then wandered some more, taking ...
... of it, and a sign saying “If I'm not in, pick a campsite and set up. Come pay me later in the night or in the morning before you leave”. Really? Good thing we’re honest! We set up the tents, and then drove to an area nearby, where there was a very nice waterfall walk. That was gorgeous, and uphill. The walk was very interesting, especially an extended part of it that warned, Rock fall danger Do ...
... so we were hoping to catch all sorts of critters includeing stoats, weasels, ferrets, cats, and hedgehogs, all of which can harm the blue ducks. We didn't see and ducks, nor have many of 12 or so members of the group checking the traps.
Overall the time here has been fabulous and I am glad we still have another 5 days or so. Amazing people, location, food, everything.

We left Geraldine behind in search of a place to keep us occupied for the day and ended up in the small town of Methven. Known more a ski town when in season, the place was pretty deserted when we rocked up.
We booked into the local campsite (complete with a variety of farm yard animals) and went for a little explore in town. The rain came on ...
