Today we headed out of Dublin to Kilkenny. Our drive was scenic--as Irish as you might imagine--green rolling hills, cows and calves, sheep and their lambs, and horses. Pastures are separated by short and tall hedgerows as they have apparently been for thousands of years.

When we got to Glendalough, we parked by Upper Lake. Unfortunately, the parking lot closes at 6pm and they make a big deal out of not being able to get your car out later than that, so as it was nearly 4pm we had to take the shorter 5km walk, called the Spinc. "Spinc" comes from the Irish "An Spinc" which means "pointed hill." ...

It's So Beautiful!
If our trip to Glendalough had a mantra, it would be, "It's so beautiful!" We had gorgeous, mild weather and no rain. As St. Kevin's bus took us into the Wicklow Mountains, I realized again how beautiful the Irish countryside is. Yes, the island has some of the most consistently beautiful scenery, and it's apparent every time I leave Dublin, but the mountains are just extra amazing.
