      ... Then we happened upon "Art on the River" - a whole area filled with a wide variety of artists. We ate lunch at "Clingman's Cafe" and sat outside on a sunny patio - lovely! We spent the rest of the day exploring the artists' studios and meeting the artists. We returned home for a bit of down time and then a pot luck dinner with Jim and Sue in our NEW HOME.       ... chose the route to Mt. Mitchell via Blue Ridge Pkwy. However, partway along, we found that the road was closed. So, we continued along the open road to Waynesville and from there to Burnsville North Carolina. After inquiring at an information center, we discovered that we still had an hour+ to go soooo, we perused a couple of shops and headed back home.       ... out the quirky shops and people. We even gave a woman (with a genuine Southern accent, finally) a ride to an AA meeting at a local church. Southern people are so friendly...
      The drive back was so nice. Good talks, beautiful scenery (thanks to a wrong turn), and it finally cooled down. We ended the night with some BBQ, at a place that was truly hopping. It was so much fun. ...

      ... ended up on 240, then with in 5 minutes of standing there i got a ride with a guy, 20 years old or so who listened to really chill music, he dropped me off 15 minutes up the road and almost immediately i was picked up by a group of Hippies, 1 of them an experienced hitchhiker, who were on there way back from rainbow gathering.
