Today was supposed to be a rain day so we planned things that didn't require good weather. As it turned out it was a beautiful day - probably over 19 degrees!! We started out at the Folk Center - many great pieces from local artisans including quilting, pottery, paintings, woodworking, jewellery no more. ... chose the route to Mt. Mitchell via Blue Ridge Pkwy. However, partway along, we found that the road was closed. So, we continued along the open road to Waynesville and from there to Burnsville North Carolina. After inquiring at an information center, we discovered that we still had an hour+ to go soooo, we perused a couple of shops and headed back home. Asheville has a lively downtown core for a small southern city, kind of artsy with a liberal southern hippie-chic kind of vibe. The mountain man look is definitely very in here with lots of boys with beards. Politically-correct lefty sanctimoniousness combined with hypocrisy can be cloying, but I have to admit that liberal places are more interesting and more fun. There aren't ...

... off 40 again when they exited. it started to drizzle which kinda sucked but after a half hour i got a ride back onto 40 by a moderately creepy guy in a moderately creepy van. He had hiked around the trail for about 2 years and never left the area. i am now chillin at buger king about to get a sundae :) Its been a great day so far.
