      Saturday 27th September

Today we had a trip across the border into Cook County, Minneapolis and visited the pretty Lake side resort of Grand Marais. It's about 80 miles south along route 61 and took us about an hour and a half. I had to buy a 30 day visa at the border which cost $6.

Cook County is basically a 3,340 square mile national park. It's the place you ...

Of the rim, so I checked the rim and found a rough spot on it where it had been welded and had apparently corroded enough to wear a hole in the tube. So, the ...

      The Cascade River

A travel blog entry by jackdrury on Jul 17, 2013

The Cascade River offers a relatively easy hike with absolutely, spectacular views of this raging river. Although there are several trails, I would suggest walking up the left side of the river, and instead of crossing it, as the park people will tell you, simply turn around and walk back the way you came. The left side provides far better views. There was one spot where ...

... enough as the path is lined with birch trees. The best pictures are from the shoreline. From Split Rock we head to our hotel in Grand Marais, MN. Grand Marais is a pleasant small town with a nice waterfront. Our hotel was right on the water. We were on the 2nd floor and slept with our balcony door open a little so we could hear the water as we went to ...
