see squirrels, chipmunk, deer, wood peckers, as well as the stinky mice!

The trip was brilliant, the scenery spectacular and all
shared with great people. A nice teaser… I would come back in a heartbeat!

P.S - I capitulated and caught a bus back to LA. NOT Greyhound. A CA Shuttle. Door to door service, internet, drivers that actually answered questions. And for only $40. Yay!

... 18 years. She pointed out the Red Bear signs on the side of the road which unfortunately indicate where a bear has been killed that season. The bears have had their revenge though and a few hikers have come of second best as a result of wilderness encounters. The driver also commented on other road kill which the locals refer to as 'street pizza' which rather tickled me.

... we overal rook dus echt mooi uitzicht heb je niet. Ze steken hier als preventie delen van het bos in brand, maar op de weg heb je dus soms veel overlast van rook.

Als eerste stoppen we bij de tunnelview vanwaar we een waterval (Bridalveil Fall) en El Capitan, een van de twee kenmerken van Yosemite, kunnen zien. We rijden door de tunnel en door het woud verder. Enorm veel bomen, maar soms zijn er hele stukken afgebrand. Gister hadden we al wat problemen met de kaart ...

... we moeten betalen. Het is voor 2 personen $14. We vinden het vrij duur, er is geen onderhoud aan de stad en de onverharde weg nodigt ook niet echt uit. Toch als we geparkeerd hebben en het dorpje doorlopen vinden we het wel leuk. Allemaal houten huizen met vieze glazen ramen. Alles nog ingericht zoals toen, alsof het zo achter gelaten is.
