... Navtec hydraulic pump, but after walking for miles from parts place to parts place we were defeated. We could only solve it by sailing back to Martinique where there was an agent.

So off we set.............on the wind this time for the 21 miles back up the track. But it was well worthwhile and with parts located and problem solved we were back in Rodney Bay 3 days later.

... looked as though this was a good idea. Everything was boarded up, locked down, shuttered closed, even Macdonalds!! That was our last resort, but it too was closed. What was open was the centre Cathedral, and Mass was in progress. The singing was pretty good but it wasn't a party so it was back to the boat and out came some cans of Chicken Curry.

Oh well you can't win them all. We later learnt they celebrate the Old Year on ...

We stayed a couple of days and then decided we would move up the west coast to do a bit of exploring. Still with Awaroa we sailed past a well known landmark called Diamond Rock where the English held off the French by manning it with cannon and calling it HMS Diamond Rock. It was only when the French wrecked a boat loaded with rum onto it that they were able to defeat the English. .
