    Kayaking in the area of Vulcano

    ... of kayaking for untrained persons is enough, so the afternoon we spend on the beach (black sand of course due to the volcano) relaxing, resting and watching the boat traffic pass by –quite a bit by the way. Towards the evening we went back to the harbor and took the late boat back into Milazzo!

    A day to remember and if you have the opportunity a sure thing to do, certainly if you have a private instructor to explain you everything.


    Up to the north

    ... by trees. I would have expected older trees than what I saw, but then not sure how well it was maintained and big trees being eliminated. Was not so impressive as Doggioreale (see a first week).
    From there up to the north along the highway (paying) to get to Milazzo. On our way over we saw a first glimpse of mount Etna - very impressive.
    Milazzo itself is not a very fancy city as the main purpose for us bing ...

    Today is a sleep in as I enjoy a day at sea. During the night they steamed at 16.2 knots to cross the Ionian Sea and then pat the most southern tip of Italy. We passed into the Strait of Messino which is in between Reggio Calabria , Italy and Messino on the island of Sicily. The most narrow point here was only 2 miles at Calabria.     ... As his presence became more difficult, Jacques told him he must leave once Millie got to Milazzo, by no later than Sept. 12. Well, within hours after we were tied up in Millazzo. (yesterday).... Alexio left. Jacques has hired two more crew members to help us with our trip back to Cannes. The first crew member will be here on the 12th of September.     ... last time I tried to bring alcohol in my checked luggage I was greeted by a soaking wet suitcase full of broken glass that reeked of beer so badly we had to throw it out. Maybe they will have some bergamot liqueur at the duty-free.
