Second objective in our time here: Procure camping equipment. We are going to camp during some of our merry journey, so have purchased tents, a stove, cooking gear and all the other sundry items required. It is lucky that there are a lot of sales going on at the moment and we picked up our fair share of bargains along the way. ... to the Sherlock Holmes museum, of which we were far too tired at this point to venture through. But we took a few pictures and then set off in search of a place to sit for a bit.

Only a few blocks away from Holmes' flat we found ourselves in Reagent's Park with it's boating lake and flocks of pigeons. Here's our view from the tree we sat beneath.

We did, however, manage to squeeze in a day trip to York, and we also spent the last couple days in London. We successfully staked out a Starbucks in every city we visited, serving as admirable American ambassadors.

... of Maastricht to Brussels, where I would have a one hour layover and then board a 10:50 train to London. So, I get up around 6:00 am, and prepare for my adventure. ... a short amble through St James's Park. The park was full of families and tourists, some sitting on the many areas of green, but most content to just amble along the pathways, sometimes stopping to look at the very tame birds and squirrels that frequented the park.
Buckingham Palace was full of tourists and we joined them at the gates to stare at one of the red-uniformed guards who either stood completely still or else marched up and down for no apparent reason. ...
