... I didn't recognize this classic begging move. I'm losing my Chicago edge out here. We headed back the 2 miles to Yaquina Head where we found the whales had not left. ... We are ensconced in a city operated campground right on the riverbank at the edge of the old town. A great spot. We have learned to ask for “dry camping”, which means no plugins, which is just fine by us, and it also sets us away from the massive camping units (and their generally massive owners) in the regular sites, and puts us with the tenters. The best thing is that we pay about $22 for dry camping as opposed to $40 or more for a regular serviced site.
