... and at the tip of all this is an old worn lighthouse, built in the 1870's. The peninsula is basically treeless and so is subject to incredible winds. (Down by the beach, the winds weren't an issue.) The place is known for its bountiful tide pools, which yield urchins and starfish and the like. We have thoroughly enjoyed spreading out in the house, cooking in a kitchen (not a hotel bathroom) & not putting quarters in to get my laundry clean. The kids have loved running around, playing & sleeping in separate rooms.

Before we left for Atlanta the car was making an awful sound, so we wanted to take it to a mechanic to have it looked over. Martha knew a great mechanic, yay, so on Wednesday morning we took it over. The weather totally surprised us on the way back to Beachside though. The sun came out! We hadn’t seen the sun since the morning we left home. This was totally unexpected, given the weather report, and what a treat! We got back to the camper, grabbed our chairs, and headed for the beach. I read my book until I fell asleep - while Larry flew our kite. It was great.
