Last blog from Rome
... and went off exploring Rome. The temperature was beautiful - blue skies and not too hot, not at all like our last time off the cruise boat. We walked past the Roman forum and museum to Piazza Venezia. The fountain Trevi (1732) was wall to wall people trying to throw their coins into the beautiful fountain. Every few steps you pass a beautiful church or some more ruins here in Rome! Lee - and the doors!! Heaps of interesting doors.

Rome day 1
... driver is a very smartly dressed Italian with dark glasses, takes us to his car – a shinny black Mercedes – I start to feel like I’m in a re-make of the Godfather. Rome traffic is chaotic and we are flying through it with only an inch clearance at most, all the while he’s pointing out places of interest – fantastic. We arrive at Mark & Linda’s around 3:30pm, see the apartment then all too ...
Less than a month left in the 'hood
... living in Trastevere that it will be difficult to make the transition.
Oh, and how I will miss seeing my friend L and her son everyday! I know that I'll continue to see them but it won't be the same... And I won't get started about how incredible her apartment is... And my room, with it's view of a church dome in the distance and the T-shape of the intersecting street below.

Hot in the city...
... place. I can't get over how much stuff the Catholic church has acquired over the years. Egyptian idols, ancient Roman statues, countless artworks and relics and archaeological finds.
And then, once again, there's the buildings themselves. We did go to the Sistine Chapel, and the place is just incredible. The idea of one man creating all of that, alone, is phenomenal.
One odd thing, though - nothing I've seen or heard about ...
