... day, and we were all pretty tired. Cynthia Ortiz and her daughters Solana and Aya, texted us that they were just outside the Ferry building. Solana is a good friend of Katie's, and we had plans to spend the next few days together. We hooked up and spent an hour or so at Pier 39 checking out the wharf. It got so late that we had to take a cab back to our car, which was parked in Evan and Andrew's neighborhood at 8th avenue and Lawton.

Today we got up super early (well, 7am - we are on holidays remember!), and caught a taxi across the city to Pier 33. This is where the National Parks run their Alcatraz tours. It's very well organised and popular so by the time we got back to shore just around 1pm, the tours where sold out until August 28!!!
