... the New World until the mid-1500's. Fine beer was already being produced however. After lunch we headed off to the museum because it was supposed to be closed the next day. Surprise, it was closed for the entire holiday season.

So, we decided to walk the length of the town and take the Eggenberg Brewery tour, stopping at the Christmas market in the central square for a warm beverage and to purchase some super fleece-lined leather gloves. Brewery was closed, but ...

It was so cute so I said "let's see if we can all get in" it was a bit of a squeeze but we managed to all get in laughing about the size of it. Then the lift came to an abrupt holt. And then we met John, an elderly Czech musician who was desperate to practice his English and tell us his history, which was very interesting. We bought him a beer and got a good history lesson on the ...

... 2 hours in the rain to look at sites etc. The first site we found was a Crepe business which Yes sold lots of crepes. I had a Blue cheese and bacon and Susan Tuna, cheese and tomato. Of course as we were in the Czech Republic I had a beer and Susan a Ginger lemonade both very nice. We then had a sweet Crepe - Cranberry, Walnut, Pear & Goats Cheese. All up it was a massive NZ$17 - we realised later they had not charged us for the sweet Crepe.

On the bus to Cesky Krumlov this morning our guide advised us that the ridiculously scary movie, Hostel, was filmed in the area. Now if you haven't seen the movie basically it's about locals who "purchase" backpackers of specific nationalities from a corrupt group who kidnap them for the locals to torture in whatever way they please.

Luckily that was not the film that was played on the bus and instead we watched 'The Illusionist' starring Edward Norton and Jessica ...
