... to take a few photos. It definitely was bakingly, achingly hot. And I had sandals on! So, I had a brief look around and came back to the boat. It was exceedingly boring sitting around for 1 1/2 hours, waiting for the others to get back.
Eventually, I swam with the others in the “hot springs” which was a lukewarm muddy area (some steam escaping underwater, not far from the volcano site) and then in the deep ...

... Saw some cool things on the hike, including tons of fig trees (no ripe fruit, unfortunately), small inaccessible beaches, lots of lizards. We made it to Oia in 2 hours, bought an ice cream Popsicle, and wandered around the town. Wandering wasn't much fun as there was a huge cruise ship crowd (3 cruise ships were anchored offshore). We took a few quality photos while squeezing around tourists in the narrow streets, then went to recon ...

    Day trip to Santorini

A travel blog entry by mareelangdon on Jul 07, 2014

Got the tender to shore with Des and Shane, Sue sick with gastro today. Booked a speed boat ride to Oia and then a bus ride back to Fira, the capital of Santorini. Everything painted white with some blue. Very barren and hilly island. Walked down the street past all the tourist shops, didn't buy anything. Des wanted to have a souvlaki in Greece so we had lunch at a restaurant overlooking ...
