Just got back from fireworks with my son and brother. Good show. Earlier in the day we grilled out at my friend Chris' house. He has a pond in the back and I caught two good sized bluegills on poppers. I need to tie some smaller ones for the return ...
... That said, superslabs proved quite useful in navigating around some of the more populated areas. There are few things more miserable than being stuck in rural sprawl gridlock when it's 86, sunny and on a bike. A couple other items of note:
- went one exit, went home to get oil this morning. Boxers burn oil.
- GPS fuse got tripped when I loctited the battery screws. Ended up having to fix that at a gas station in PA.
- Brake failure ...
... in class at a competition in California. They also have a very large selection of cheeses from the area and serve several with the wine tasting.
The drive over and back was nice, but we have realized that in this part of the US, a 20 mile drive takes 45 minutes to an hour due to the terrain and the numerous small villages you have to go through, but that adds to the drive.
Tomorrow we head north for St. Johnsbury, VT. ...
The last couple of days have been filled with lots and lots of driving. We never knew exactly how the timing of things would work out on this trip, which was one of the wonderful parts of it, but when we got down to the last couple of days we realized we would have time to stop and visit my brother and sister-in-law which was a perfect last stop.

Leslie and I are excited about planning our next big GOG adventure. Too excited, perhaps. We don't get out much. In-boxes are overflowing with our exchange of e-mails. Essaouira or El Jadida? Camel trekking anyone? Check out this cool restaurant where the tables are set up in a babbling brook and diners get to soak their feet while they eat! If we don’t tone it down, I fear we’ll scare the others away long before ...
